Learn About Stretchi Wrap
How to use stretchi wrap correctly
One of the key aspects of ergonomic babywearing is achieving a snug and comfortable fit.
Follow our guidelines to ensure the carrier is adjusted to support your baby’s hips and spine correctly.
We understand that visual learning is essential for many parents.
Our tutorial page includes detailed video demonstrations, allowing you to see the proper techniques in action.
1. Step – Follow the tutorial
Tye the stretchy fabric in the same manner as shown in the video.
The International Hip Dysplasia Institute (IHDI) recommends baby’s hips be spread apart and flexed
with the thighs supported up to the knee joint, forming an “M“.
Remember to follow T.I.C.K.S for safe babywearing.
Step by step
- Locate the centre of the wrap – by folding the wrap in half.
- Place the wrap’s centre below your breast line and flatten it across your stomach.
3. Wrap it over your back and then cross it over your lower back. Take the two ends of the wrap.
- Pull the long pieces (the ones you crossed behind your back) over your shoulders.
5. Smooth/tighten the fabric. Stretch the panels in front of you until they are tight
(this will tighten the part that is wrapped around your belly).
You’ll also want to check for smoothness and no bunched-up cloth (particularly on your back).
6. Insert fabric panels inside the belly panel.
7. Tighten/smooth once more. Check that everything is tight and smooth once more.
- Cross long panels in front. Cross the long fabric panels (the ones underneath the central panel) in front of you.
9. Wrap the fabric panels behind your back. Loop the long panels of fabric (that you just crossed) behind your back.
Then cross and wrap again in front of you.
10. Draw lengthy panels in front of you and tie them together. Tie the long panels you just looped around your body around your waist.
I usually tie them in a bow. You can do a double knot, or a bow, or tie them at your side or behind you – whichever is most comfortable for you!
11. At this point, you are ready to wrap your little one.
12. Perform pelvic tilt to ensure the baby’s hips are positioned correctly.
